All Things Art & Home

Another year is wrapping up ~ and the finishing touches are being made for the Christmas gatherings and celebrations! Can you feel the hustle and bustle?

This year ~ the homespun and heartfelt gifts are a little different then the past few….with each person receiving a heart-warmed soy-candle and Santa Claus gift tag ornament. The perfect gift for a Sister, a Friend, A Co-Worker, Your Stylist and the Postman ~ giving a handmade gift is giving from the heart.

My hubby and I shared some time together making candles and tart warmers too ~ reminiscing of his childhood when he made candles with his Mom and Aunt Flossie over a fire. The memories and stories warmed my heart as we made batches of candles in ‘Sugar Cookie’ scent.

there will be more to share on candle making in 2020 thru this blog ~ with something up my sleeve!

While the candles were cooling, the packaging was prepared ~ with baker’s twine, kraft wrap, kraft bags, tissue paper, rubber stamps and the cutest little Santa Claus gift tag ornament.

Each candle wrapping is a little different ~ some covered in waxed kraft wrap, some covered in ‘cheap red felt’ (cutting apart several dollar store Christmas stockings~ just because its like pretty ol’ felt), and some covered with wrapping paper cut to fit inside over the wick (now you know what to do with scraps of wrapping!)….each tied up with baker’s twine, of course! here is a secret….place a rubber band around the wrapping before the twine is placed and tied.

To give the gift and keeping it homespun ~ stencil a quick chalkboard square onto a kraft bag with DecoArt Chalkboard paint then use a Prismacolor pencil to write a message….. ‘Merry & Bright’ seemed fitting. The kraft tissue paper tucked inside is hand stamped with ‘Merry & Bright’ and homespun plaid of course too.

Place the candle and Santa Claus gift tag ornament into the bag and you will have the perfect homespun holiday heartfelt gift!

My time working for Hallmark was well spent….. 🙂

The Santa Claus gift tag ornament pattern will be available to you in 2020 as a set of 3. He is a cutie and Classic Chalk Art!

As a creator, designer and maker…it is hard to live in the moment ~ living several seasons ahead in my creative business mind. I always have this need to move onto the next thing, move onto the next project…and am excited to share with you what 2020 holds….but for now I am going to savor the moments…..I am wishing you the same. Enjoy the moments.

And Have yourself a merry little Christmas filled with homespun heartwarming moments!
