Create Art & Curate Your Home

Is it a Journal, a Coffee Table Book, a Keepsake Book, or a Pop-Up Book?

or, or, or!

It was so hard to decide what to call this creative book!

I know one things for sure….it will be a fun treasure for your family and friends to enjoy ~ a keepsake for sure…maybe even a sought after collectable!

Will you be joining us thru Zoom Class on July 15, 2021 to create our very first page of our ‘Creative Christmas Keepsake Journal‘?

This class is thru Cindy Harrison’s Artful Webinars. July 15, 2021 from 6:00pm till 9:00pm EST.

Then each coming month we will create a new page. We already have August and September lined up…Mrs. Claus and an Elfie friend who will just melt your heart.

Create one page, create a few or create them all, together!

Patterns will be available to purchase 6 months following each Page/Class thru Classic Amy Joanne. Each class is video taped for approximately a 30 day period to paid class participants only.

Once a Class/Page is purchased, you will receive a full pattern with prep instructions and a link to join the Class.

Here is a List of Supplies needed ~ other than your regular acrylic painting supplies.

A Journal ~ Dylusions Creative Journal by Ranger 8 x 8 inch. If you will be using a different journal, be sure the pages are black or painted black. I purchased this Journal thru Michaels (here).

140lb Coldpress Watercolor Paper ~ any brand will do. If using White, be sure to paint each page Lamp Black or Chalky Gesso in Black from DecoArt.

and I was excited to find this Black Watercolor Paper (no need to basecoat)! Found thru Blicks (here).

DecoArt Chalky Gesso in Black ~ to prepare the paper pages for paint. You can find this product thru Michaels (here). Any Black Gesso or Clear Gesso will do.

DecoArt Decoupage in Matte and also any Super Glue (not pictured).

Other useful items are a Detail Knife like Fiskars, a small Detail Scissors, a White Colored Pencil, Baker’s Twine, Scrapbooking Paper of your choice, a Paper Trimmer for the Scrapbooking Paper, Double Sided Foam Tape (found at Hobby Lobby thru The Paperie), and fun scrapbook type items such as coin envelopes, washi tape, family photos, cards, recipes, etc….making it personal to you.

Each page is prepared the same, prior to transferring your design and basecoating.

Paint or Sponge Roll Chalky Gesso onto each page. Then distress each page by drybrushing DecoArt Graphite then Neutral Grey.

Here is another ‘quirky me’ video, sharing about all the products and a demo on how to Gesso and then Distress the Background of Each Page.

I apologize for the grainy-ness of the video. It is hard to video a black page, surface. The colors are from DecoArt in Graphite and Neutral Grey (not Slate Grey as shown, silly me picked up the wrong bottle ‘do as I say not as I do, lol’). On the video I mention the time as 6 to 9:30 ~ it is 6 to 9:00pm.
You can also view the same technique to create a chalkboard-like background thru this ‘oldie but goodie’ you-tube video, click here. (comes with a free pattern link).

Let’s talk about the Cover of the Journal during our Classes….maybe it will be fun for each of us to create a different cover and share ideas!
