I get excited this time of year…..we are one week away from the Decorative Painting HOOT Convention 2015 in Columbus Ohio! Woo-Hoot!
Looking forward to seeing ol’ friends, taking classes, enjoying the open air farm market, viewing all the Art and shopping the convention….
This week holds catching up on life, making lists, packing a suitcase, packing painting and penciling supplies for classes and packing new patterns and samples for Della Wettermans Folk Art Tin Booth…..
Among the favorites from the past three years, I have created 2 new patterns to be released at HOOT 2015!
This is ‘Bear Love’
He is painted on a galvanized tin scoop, painted to look like a chalkboard background, with instructions on how to ‘write’ a chalk message onto the backside. My last post (here), I have shown different ways to display this decorative scoop.
I am planning a fall pattern using the same scoop and will post about how to use this in a tablescape……
Also new at HOOT 2015, ‘Santa’s Treats’
The pattern is painted on a medium tin cake pedestal. The pattern features a tag and baker’s twine – seems to be my signature ‘thing’ (here). I also finished with a coat of gloss varnish and silver german glass glitter, it made all the difference.
And I am ‘letting the cat out of the bag’….I cannot hold it in any longer, I am bursting at the seams with excitement…..A book will be released at the HOOT 2015, published by Viking Woodcraft and organized by Jane Allen with 9 Decorative Artists…….and I am one of them! The book is ‘Della Wetterman presents – Celebrate Fall with Friends’. This is a first time book for me, I never would have imaged I would be on the pages with such amazing Artists and have made the cover! My Decorative Painting Journey has been 25 years of amazing…..
Let me introduce you to Owliver …….he can be found on page 33!
Owliver is painted on a bentwood box carrier. As a bonus you will find this week on this blog – a ‘how to’ make a basket/bentwood tie-on with skeleton keys….they adorn this box and look so wonderful since skeleton keys are part of the painting!
Stop by and visit Della’s booth and say Hello….I will be happy to meet you!
