‘Find a Hobby and you will find a Friend’
I have met SO MANY friends thru my passion for Decorative Painting ~ from taking my first painting class, to visiting Decorative Painting shops, to weekly class in Palmerton PA, to taking Seminars, to traveling to Conventions, to joining a Chapter,to teaching workshops at our local Art Center, to publishing, to magazine articles, to wood suppliers, to having a booth at HOOT, to teaching Seminars, to furniture painting, to selling at Tink’s Antiques, to my Blog and to my FaceBook and Instagram pages. Did I forget anything…..?
As I look at this list of places Decorative Painting has taken me and the friendships I have made…..’whoooda’ thought that lifting up that paintbrush for the first time would accomplish all this?
Pick up a paintbrush it is magic, can’t you see?

I have met 2 amazing Artists thru FaceBook (yes, actually social media), and although we have never met in person, we have a fun creative kinship…..all because of our love for Decorative Painting!
…and this is how we Create Ornaments Together
I met Sheila Landry thru her posts and was instantly drawn to her work as a Scroll Saw Artist. I have worked with Sheila a few times now thru messaging, phone calls and emails, creating together a duck pull toy design and now Santa and Snowman Ornaments.
Oh ~ and we have something spooky fun planned for 2017!
I watched Sheila’s posts as she painted a Lynn Andrews design with these wonderful bevel cut ornaments….and I thought, ‘hey, we can do that!’….so I roughly designed a cut-out and Sheila worked her magic ~and the Santa and Snowman ornaments were born.
The reveal of this pattern and ornaments happened at the HOOT Convention 2016! Two creative friends working together to create Artful fun across the miles!
The ornaments can be purchased thru Sheila at
the pattern is available thru this blog…Acrylic Pattern Page

I also met Lynn Smith Barbadora thru Facebook, if you follow Lynn you know that she has a beautiful studio where she shares step by step progress of whatever is on her painting table! Lynn also has an inspiring blog,
Lynn had ordered a few Santa and Snowman Ornaments and the pattern in August…and then posted her step by step progress as she painted each…….it is fun to watch her progress with each post.
Visit Lynn’s FaceBook Page to see for yourself……you will want to pick up your brush!

PS…that’s my cutie pie niece in the photo!
I cannot Thank Sheila and Lynn enough for being my creative friends….Like minded people….we find each other!

Thank you so much for your beautiful designs Amy! I too am grateful for social media because of it we have been able to form friendships which we may not have otherwise had. There just is nothing like connecting with friends who share the same passion for creating and painting. Each and every time I pick up a brush……I get excited to think about the magic that I am about to create. Thank you my friend!
Thank you Lynn….love the magic!
It is wonderful the friendships you make when you share a common interest – passion. I am thankful for art bring us together and the friendship that has developed. Sheila and Lynn both seem like beautiful, kind and sharing ladies. Love you my friend.
