ol lumber santa

I have a love for Vintage if you haven’t noticed….I like the look of vintage, the feel of vintage, to collect vintage, to design vintage and to paint on vintage…….that’s a whole lotta Vintage!

A few years back I created ‘Havtahav’s’ ~ Painting on Vintage Finds!  Either the design was of a vintage find or the painting was created on vintage finds…..

Painting dozens of ol’ lumber pieces framed with drywall slats…..Havtahav em’.

….and here is one from the 90’s, a Maxine Thomas design ~ at our previous home.

Ol’ Lumber ~ it doesn’t get any better than this!

The rough ol’ lumber works to add texture and enhance the design.  All it takes is a little scrubbing of the wood to prepare for paint….and of course cleaning any yucky webs and spiders….then assemble.

Most recently Ol’ Lumber Santa was created to share with friends at the Tamaqua Art Center….painted with only 3 brushes on ol’ lumber!  We had a great time…playing with grunge and glitter!

Santa was designed from a previously created ‘Havtahav’ shown below…..(oops, old photo blur) ⇓.

and just changed up the nose, hat and gloves….

Would you like to try your hand at Ol’ Lumber Santa?

Find yourself an ol’ piece of lumber and drywall slats ~ scrub and scrub and scrub…then assemble.

Next ~ print out the instructions ‘click below’….with line drawing.

Ol Lumber Santa with LD

Size up the line drawing and transfer to the wood with graphite paper, a chalk pencil is useful if you lose any graphite lines.

Then let’s get painting!  Be sure to try the Oval Bringle Blender Brush by Scharff (here)….there is no brush finer to dry-brush over rough lumber.

After painting…..add glitter if desired and embellish the top with vintage metal and greens…..and the baker’s twine of course.

Do you collect or paint Vintage?

Enjoy the pattern……why you ask? …..because I like you
