….but this year is different.  This year is about sharing a pretty place setting ~ set for a special friend with simply handmade touches.

It’s all in the presentation….especially for you.

Your table can be beautiful by using what you have.  Mixing a few mis-matched white dinnerware pieces and vintage linens or wool scraps to create a cottage look….adding a simple candle and greenery to match, that is all that is needed.

Any table will feel special if you weave in small white lights, white candles and left over ribbon from wrappings, along with greenry….fresh or artificial, using what you have.

I will touch more on the place settings after Christmas….fun to collect and gather to create your own unique style.

…adding a handmade gift is that extra special something.

For the handmade gift, I simply made house ornaments with clay at ‘ClayWorks Studio’.

If you have a Clay Studio near year it is worth the visit…..we are fortunate to have our very own at the Tamaqua Art Center….Irene Miller will be happy to guide you thru creating pieces.  I went with an idea…..and Irene provided the technique and how-to.

These cute little house ornaments and luminaries were just what I was picturing in my mind! Always love when that works out…..making the perfect inexpensive handmade gift.

We are planning on a Workshop next year, if you’re local we sure would love to have you join us to make your very own!

You may personalize in any way too….with a name,  date, cookie cutter shape, or use a favorite rubber stamp!  The ideas are endless.

I chose a heart cookie cutter, and a ‘Merry and Bright’ stamp to personalize each.

Amy, I love your ideas and this one is hitting home this year. We sold our house in July and are temporarily renting an apartment until we find another house. I always made sure that the dining room table was decorated for Christmas gatherings. I so miss doing it this year since almost everything is still in boxes, but, you have given me a grand idea for next year. I think it’s so important to make guests feel special and these little ceramic houses are just the ticket for the people to take one home. Thanks for the idea and the reminder of what a well dressed table means at the time of family gathering. 💜

    1. Thank you Lisa….your message means so much….family, yes the most important accessory at the table, no need for extravagant, just simply family gathering, with a little pretty ❤️….enjoy where you are planted- take the time to breath and dream of your next home….Merry Christmas 🎄

I just LOVE this! Then again I love everything you do!I love to set a pretty table as well!

    1. Can’t wait to see your table this year….always something very special! Thank you Lynn and Merry Christmas!

  3. Sweet favors that they can take home and enjoy and have a nice memory

    1. Fun to create too!

  4. Oh, I love how your mind works, Amy! Always thinking of things that would have never occurred to me. Because of your posts, this summer I began ‘coordinating’ my dinnerware and table settings, rather than ‘matching’ them. Even though we don’t have much company, it is always nice to set a pretty table. Keith’s mom comes over on Sundays and we have a ‘nice dinner’ together. It is fun to add the extra touches for those we love and see every day. We don’t have to wait for special occasions.

The clay houses are wonderful! I may try my hand at doing some kitty related clay things now. I have two-part epoxy clay that I am sure will work well.

Thank you for your wonderful inspiration! I always love seeing what you are thinking! <3

    1. Thank you Sheila……table setting is like Art! ….and what better for than the everyday! I love watching your stories of ‘what’s for dinner’ when you have guests! …..maybe we should coordinate your meals with place settings🙂❤️……have fun with the clay houses!
