Sharing a love of vintage thru Creativity and Home Style…well, it’s my thing.

When the Creative Series ‘Vintage Scale Series’ began, it wasn’t really a Series but a single project or two….then it kept going and going and going ~ it then became a Creative Series.
The first Creative Series called ‘Vintage Scale Series’ is created with Acrylic DecoArt Paint and Prismacolor Pencils ~ each created onto a bentwood box using a vintage scale as the common design element ~ some of the subjects so far are ‘themed’ Seasonal and Holiday. As each box is created my mind creates even more ideas….such as ironstone dishes, country sewing items, Baby’s coming….and so on. Creating Series are nice like this…..there is a beginning without an ending.
The very first design in the Vintage Scale Series is ‘Pumpkin on a Vintage Green Scale’

And then a few more were added such as ‘Snow Globes’ and ‘Gingers’.

then it came time for Summer-like ideas ~ like ‘Tweedy Bird and a Cantalope’.

The ideas grew into something bigger once Halloween rolled around ~ creating the usual round style bentwood box, but then also creating a vintage hanging scale onto an oval bentwood. This pattern is a two-fer. Both patterns included in one.

There are also blog postings about creating with Paint & Pencil, adding watercolor paper and even lining the bentwood box. Click onto the ‘Learning-DIY-How-to’ Category for all creative how-to’s!

The most recent in the Vintage Scale Series is ‘Blue Easter’. This is another two-fer. Take a look….

So many more ideas for the ‘Vintage Scale Series’ are in the works ~ Christmas Baubles, Thanksgiving, Flag Day, Picnic, Country Store, and Spring to name a few!

Last year the Creative Series ~ ‘A Charming Welcome’ was introduced….out of a love of the front door wreath. This Creative Series pieces are all created on a pretty plaque with an inset painted with Acrylic DecoArt Paint~ the plaque is created by one of my favorite designers and ‘wood’ girl, Sheila Landry. Each pattern is available as a set with the surface or alone. Additional sets may be purchased thru Sheila at www.tolepaintingdesigns.com

Matilda was the first in this Creative Series ~ A Halloween Wreath.
Mr Santa Claus is up next with his cookies, toys and friends!
Here is a little sneak peek!

Yet another fun Creative Series is still swirling around in my imagination, it is inspired by a favorite show ‘The Walton’s’……the surfaces will vary but the subject matter will stay the same. First up will be a Pie Box created by a local wood craftsman. The first in the Creative Series will be published in The Decorative Painter…..this Creative Series will have alotta of Homespun Charm!
When we watch the Walton’s daily at noon ~ I pay attention to the fabrics in the clothing, the tablecloths, the ironstone, the blue knickers, school books tied with rope, ‘Chance’ the cow, and Ike’s store. Needless to say I am very anxious to get started. Imagine lining a bentwood box with paper reminiscent of this era!

Coming Soon: Easter Blues, a revisit to Classic Chalk Art, Studio Updates and Shading How-to’s.
This is a wonderful post! Even though I have known you and collaborated with you on some projects, I see these designs and get excited all over again! I love the idea of a ‘series’ and I think others do as well. For myself, I decorate for every season and I hate to take down one piece and have a bare spot in the room where the seasonal design had been. It is great to have a series of seasonal projects to swap out and change the look and feel to reflect the time of year. Keep going, my friend! Your beautiful and charming designs are always delightful and never fail to make me smile! Beautiful post!
Thank you my friend, always fun to work together on many of our projects…the best part of being creative ~ Makin friends! ❤️
