Create Art & Curate Your Home

As we all are ready to usher out 2020 this year ~ there has been a simplicity that I have been enjoying, like paying more attention to each and every item I pull from the Christmas decor bins, each piece telling a story of Christmas past, friends and family and reflecting just a little longer on each piece. ~ My hubby and I have been spending more time together, time perhaps getting to know each other a little better and enjoying each others company, even after 32 years of marriage. ~ It also has been nice to do a project or two, enjoying the process with less hurried time to complete. ~ And although it has been challenging to teach thru 2020, it is a Blessing to find Zoom and connecting with friends has been a welcome gift.

My hope is that when things become ‘normal’ again we can bring the good parts of 2020 with us.

Adding Holiday Touches to the Everyday at Home

These warm woolen mittens are ready by the front door….each pair knitted by my younger Sister. My husband refinished the vintage grocery basket…another treasure for sure.

It was a beautiful morning of fresh fallen snow the day I had my camera in hand…..who doesn’t love fresh fallen snow ~ those flakes are real, no photoshop here!

It was a pretty day to look thru a window and dream ~ my hubby’s Aunt Flossie crocheted the pretty snowflakes many years ago. I have alot of favorite Aunts thru my Husband’s family and my own…..Aunt Flossie was just the sweetest, she made the best applesauce & Christmas cookies, kept a beautiful home, and made handmade gifts, I treasure her memory.

Always fond memories of my friend Jane Allen when I display our handmade Glitter Houses ~ I cannot wait until we can be creative together again.

Each year the fireside bookcase display changes just a bit….finding new treasures to place with the everyday. Special finds while antiquing with friends among the collections of everyday decor….with a few Christmas touches.

A vintage Santa coin bank tucked inside the blue hutch, among the everyday collection of ironstone. I remember having this very same Santa….do you? I’m not sure why but it reminds me of visiting Santa at our local Fire Co where my Dad was a member. I remember receiving netted stockings filled with goodies.

This Precious Moments Manger Scene was a gift from my husband many years ago….the straw was a ‘blessed’ gift from my good friend Allison.

Here is a little glimpse into the Studio this Christmas Season, with a few Holiday Touches to the Everyday……….a place of work, play & creative fun.

The Studio Office is a hard working space with touches of Christmas to the everyday.

The Studio space is always a work in progress….as we find vintage pieces we work them into the space. Coming this year is a locker cabinet from a school gymnasium, a Sunday School teachers desk, a child’s play hutch, a new desk chair, an area rug and lots of ol’ painted pieces to move around!

A simple mousie is a treasure found in Ohio at an antique show during a Longaberger bus trip….such fond memories, too many to count ~ a lucky girl I am.

….not even a mouse.

And even though I am waiting for the day when we can play again in my home studio together…..I still like to change the ‘Sales Hutch’ ~ even if it is just for me. Play time is always fun.

…and I have been building a mannequin and playing dress up. I will be sure to share next year ~ but in the meantime ~ she will be going thru some outfit changes. Yes, I have been ‘making’ friends.

The Studio awaits the sounds of creative friends enjoying working with our hands and hearts!

  2. Merry Christmas to you and Jerry. Your house looks lovely with all the Christmas touches. I love the Carolers when we were kids we had a plastic church and six carolers like yours. I always liked getting that piece out as a kid and playing with it. Fond memories of long ago. Love the glitter houses, I was just talking about them today. Look forward to creating in the future too.
