The secret to the actual Peanut Butter Butter Squares is something that happened by accident….and it ended up making the recipe even better and hence the name…. ‘butter butter’ Squares. The original recipe is from a family recipe book and called for graham cracker crumbs ~ but the grocery store was out of crumbs and actual graham crackers….so while searching thru the cookie isle, I found Dollar General Brand Clover Valley ‘Butter Rings’….well first of all they are pretty tasty right out of the box and they are the cutest cookie too.…so why not make them into crumbs for the recipe. They ended up to be truly delicious! Hence the name….’Peanut Butter Butter Squares’.

As much as I love graham cracker crumbs….. Butter Rings it will be.

Peanut Butter Butter Squares

  • 4 cups sifted powdered sugar
  • 1 2/3 cup butter ring cookie crumbs
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup semi sweet chocolate morsels, melted

Stir together first 4 ingredients in a medium bowl. Firmly press mixture into an ungreased 13 x 9 inch pan. (I used a square cupcake tin pan). Spread or pour melted chocolate evenly over cookie layer. Let sit 2 hours for chocolate to set.

I LOVE happy accidents. Banana Pudding is a staple dessert in the South. An Elderly friend couldn’t find any vanilla wafers, so she bought a package of sandwich cookies–man, it was delicious, and became fun to try different flavors of the cookies–peanut butter, lemon, chocolate.

I can’t stand plain peanut butter, but put it with chocolate, and it is my favorite thing, ever! I know, I am weird.🤣😂😅

Stay safe, my sweet friend. Thanks for your service during this strange time. Big hug.❤😊
