Did you know that there is no end to Creativity?

You simply just can’t use it all up.

It’s like a muscle, the more you use it the more you build it up…or like potato chips, you can’t just stop at one.

Time and time again one creative idea turns into more ~ it was no different with this ‘Marigold‘ design.

‘Marigold‘ started as a ‘Classic Chalk Art‘ Design with marigolds in a basket’ shown below(find more Classic Chalk Art Patterns here).

Then my friend Diane suggested to create the design onto a Clay Pot ~ ‘mmmm, why yes the clay pot surface would work nicely with the colored pencils’…‘thanks Diane, what a fun creative idea’!

And since the ‘marigold basket’ design is a 1/2 basket, there is not an edge on a round clay pot to add the 1/2 basket without making it into a whole basket~ sooooo, the bunny design was born!

And while we’re at it, why not add a little scalloped ruffle detail to the clay pot for some extra crafty fun!

Told ya, you just can’t use up creativity!

To create the Clay Pot Scalloped Ruffle Detail (shown below) ~ Collect a few supplies ~ a Clay Pot, Quickwood (for sculpting found here), basic sculpting tools, a chip brush, sea-sponge, your basic painting supplies and a few DecoArt Paints ~ Antique White (or Warm Beige), Burnt Orange and Avocado.

Add a sculpted scalloped ruffle edge with Quickwood by simply kneading the Quickwood, then first rolling it to the length needed, then flattening the roll to the desired width, then add/adhere it to the clay pot by smoothing it under the top lip. Then create the scalloped ruffle design thru the Quickwood using a stylus or sculpting tool. I kept the Quickwood somewhat ‘rough’ looking and ‘flipped’ a few scallops up for extra interest. You may of course smooth out the quickwood and flatten the ruffled scallops or create whatever design your heart desires!

Once the Quickwood is firm, then paint the whole clay pot including the Quickwood Burnt Orange, then drybrush and/or sponge Antique White and Avocado here and there onto the Clay Pot, then drybrush Burnt Orange within and around these areas to finish the Clay Pot.

The little scallop ruffle melts my heart.

…and so does ‘Marigold‘ The Bunny.
