I am sure I have mentioned from time to time how small our kitchen is (green hutch here)~ I’m not bellyaching in anyway, I happen to love a small kitchen, but I do need to think creatively of different ways to use the space I do have, wisely.

Back in March of ’24 ~ I found an inspiration piece (shown below) thru Tidbits Blog (follow Tidbits here) ~ Cami of Tidbits collected 2 vintage drying racks and placed them on her kitchen counter….and I thought how perfect this shelving would be for our kitchen (also shown below/before shelving).

There was an open space on our kitchen counter that I could work vertically with this shelving~ creating much needed space for everyday things such as cookbooks, napkins, and bowls for catching this and that ~ and of course seasonal displays. Even storing baking sheets and cooling racks underneath for easy access.

My hubby built the shelving measuring within our counter and cabinet space and following the vintage drying rack design from Tidbits. We placed the shelving in its space and it fit perfectly.

We never really completed it for 2 years ~ although it served it’s purpose. Then finally just a few short weeks ago we completed the shelving design by adding a header panel to the upper shelf backside.

And the header panel made all the difference (shown below).

The design idea for the header panel came from ‘a piece’ I had in the Studio that sits on top of a doorway, it is a kick-plate panel from an ol’ vintage dresser. I traced and sized this panel onto a piece of wood and my Hubby cut out the design to fit onto the backside of the kitchen shelving….making it uniquely ours! Perfect!

I love to find inspiration thru following Blogs, magazines, books and Pinterest too. Then all the fun is in the making, creating and collecting anything we can dream up from inspiration! Making a House our Home.

And it all feels like ‘our’ home to me. (Listen Here).

How do you make your house ‘uniquely your’ home?

Creatively Yours, Amy.
