Classic Amy Joanne

All Things Art & Home

Tell someone you love them this coming Valentine’s Day with a warm cup of cocoa in a mug wrapped with the sweetest hand-made cozy!

The cozy is made with a few crafting and painting supplies….a travel mug, rolled cork with adhesive backing (found at Hobby Lobby) and DecoArt Cork Sealer….along with your basic painting and craft supplies.

To create the Cozy ~ simply measure and cut the rolled cork to fit centered onto the travel mug, overlapping on the backside. Then with a sponge brush add several layers of DecoArt Cork Sealer to the surface and let dry. The DecoArt Cork Sealer provides a smoother surface to paint on.

As a special treat for you…..the Warm & Cozy pattern with line drawing is offered to create ~ for $1.00 and an exchange of your email address to be added to the Classic Amy Joanne monthly newsletter!

This is a one page pattern created in similar fashion as in our ‘Recipe Card Project’! Simply Click below to purchase and sign up!

if you enjoy Classic Amy Joanne….tell a friend.

Once the painting is complete ~ add a little DecoArt Starlight Varnish for some extra twinkle.

Then assemble the Cozy by adhering the cork directly to the cup using the adhesive backing for a one time use (or hand washing) ~ or for a removable Cozy simply add a velcro tab to the backside of the cork to secure.

To add an extra pretty touch to the backside ~ punch a hole thru the cork and tie a ribbon thru.…oh how pretty.

Add pretty washi-tape to the top of the travel mug for another pretty touch!

While painting ~ think of adding your very own sentiment. Vintage Valentine Cards are a great resource for inspiration….. I so wish I had my valentines from grade-school , I remember making the shoe boxes for our desks for exchange day……. so much fun!

Make some cocoa, coffee or tea, bake a dozen or so of sweet cookies and invite a friend over for a Warm & Cozy day.….maybe remembering and sharing memories of those school day Valentine exchanges……do you remember ?
