Create Art & Curate Your Home

Our Living Room…. is just that ~ our ‘living room’, it is our entryway, our den, our tv room, our ‘snack table dining room’, our media room, our music practice space, and a place to gather with family, it is also a pass thru for the kitchen, dining and bedroom area, including the main door, a fireplace and a walk-thru to the stairs. Yes, multi-functioning it is and needs to be. It is small but comfy, and hard working too …….and yet pretty.

and I wouldn’t have it any other way. It works for us.

The decor is changed 3 times a year ~ for Spring, Autumn and Christmas and each time it re-creates the space, adding new treasures and editing out a few things too.

Keeping it fresh and inviting.

In our Living Room, there are a few projects in the works…. including adding a new area rug and runner, a new iron fireplace insert and finishing up painting the cabinetry.

…and still working thru the big clean out project (since the closing of the Shop) sifting thru each room and each cabinet, from top to bottom. Making piles to keep, donate, sell, give or pitch. In this room the fireplace cabinets hold cookbooks and magazines~ and then the small hutch is filled with ironstone, candles and tarts.

Always something to do, always a growing list. I’m good with that, I will never be bored.

It came to be ~ by collecting Denim Blues, Vintage Green Accents, Ironstone Dishes, and Iron Candlesticks, Warm Woods, Heirloom Pass-Down Pieces and Family Photos ~ equaling a comfy cozy ‘blue jean’ cottage~living room.

Building on what’s loved, instead of following a trend or style ~ it makes for a Happy Home.

‘I try not to fit into a perfect box of Farmhouse, Country, Rustic, Primitive or Victorian, I’ve done that in the past and it just doensn’t feel right …..I have learned to search for pieces that I love and eventually ‘my’ home came together in ‘my’ own decor-style.’

Using painted furniture not too distressed, found vintage ‘cleaned-up’ treasures with purpose, some antique gold for bling and of course adding in handmade items too, oh and alot of DIY power!

35 years of collecting, pitching, changing, growing, donating, selling and curating to find my very own style I like to call ‘Comfy Blue Jean Cottage’. The feel of a comfy pair of blue jeans ~it makes for a comfy home too.

Come on over, wear your favorite blue jeans, kick off your shoes and stay a while….. in our multi-functioning, crazy organized, made it pretty for you, Living Room!

Happy Spring!
