Which came first…the design, the recipe, the candle or the gift idea?

To tell you the truth I am not quite sure, my brain just functions that way ~ all the ideas all intertwining into each other, with each idea developing and unfolding into the next.

That’s how creativity works, in my brain anyway.

The ‘Apple Cider Donuts‘ Design was developed using our handmade wooden Baby Bundt Box (found here), ~ creating the design and then coordinating the inside of the box, and then adding a favorite dessert to make it giftable.

The design is created in Paint & Pencil onto watercolor paper and then attached to the Baby Bundt Box with upholstery tacks ~ a favorite decor-style here at Classic Amy Joanne.

Gather with us on October 28, 2023 thru ‘White Mountain Painting Chapter’ at ‘Art Room 2 Create Zoom’ to create your very own ‘Apple Cider Donuts’ Design (click here to learn more and join us).

The pattern will be made available in November 2023.

Need a ‘Housewarming’ Gift?

Add a stack of apple cider donuts to your perfectly created box ~ using the following recipe.

Apple Cider Donuts

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups apple cider
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 3/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp apple pie spice (I did not add)
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 tb unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
Topping
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 3/4 tsp apple pie spice (I did not add)
  • 6 tb unsalted butter, melted
Glaze Topping
  • 1 cup Confectioners Sugar
  • a few tablespoons of Milk

Method

  1. Simmer the apple cider in a saucepan over low heat until about 1/2 cup is left. May take approximately 20 minutes. Let cool for 10 minutes.
  2. Preheat Oven 350F ~ spray donut pan with non-stick spray.
  3. Whisk together the melted butter, egg, brown sugar, sugar, milk and vanilla. Pour into the dry ingredients, add the reduced apple cider, and whisk all together to combine until smooth. Will be thick.
  4. Spoon into donut tray, filling each about 1/2 to 3/4 full.
  5. Bake for 10 minutes(less for small donut pan), edges will be slightly browned. Cool for 2 minutes, then transfer to wire rack.
  6. Combine topping ingredients (exept butter). Once donuts are cool, dip donut into melted butter and then sprinkle donut with topping mix.
  7. OR mix the confectioners sugar with a few tablespoons of milk until smooth and dripping and with a spoon add glaze to the top of each donut.

Then make it a ‘Cottage Classic Giftable‘ ~ by creating a gift tag onto watercolor paper using any part of the design, then cut it out and secure the gift tag with coordinated ribbon around the box!

Our Apple Cider Donut Candle, complete with a designer label would also make a perfect gift tucked into your sweet box (candles found here).

refreshing room sprays and tiny tins coming soon.

….and just wait until you see what is up ahead with ‘Apple Cider Donuts‘ ~ we’re mixing Art & Vintage to warm your home and melt our heart!

Stay tuned in for another mix of creative ideas ~ from my heart and hands to yours. xoxo
