My creative business ‘life’ has taken a hard right turn over the past year or so and although there has been some crying, kicking and screaming ~ the other side of it all isn’t so bad.
Picking myself up by the britches and finding my creative side again and momentum too…and all the dreams that come with it.
Most recently, I have been enjoying re-creating my Studio space for ‘todays‘ needs. This past week moving my Sewing Corner into where my ol’ Candle Business shelving was. The Candle Business moved to our homes ‘entryway’….. There has been a-lot of shuffling happening.
Below is the ol’ candle shelving and then followed by the new Sewing Corner shelving.

of course using vintage little cabinets and hutches. (Read more here).
Each little cabinet is sheared up, cleaned off, with some repainting and of course, adding charm.
Below is my ol’ Sewing Corner. You can read about this corner and painting the sewing desk too. (here).

The new Sewing Corner cabinets have some fun new details ~ such as ‘lined’ drawers with scrapbooking paper.

…and bulletin boards have also been added to the inside of a few doors. Do you see those ‘clips‘? (below) They are clothspins with denim jean tabs, how clever! ….we all know how I just adore denim.
The mini clothspins in the bowl are a gift from my friend Tracy of ‘Sister Stash’ ~ you can find her Ebay shop…. and story (here).

…in the below image I started out with an ‘orange plaid’ door but have sinced changed it out ~ …always in constant change.

…..I’ve also made a new pincushion (see below) using my very own hand turned pottery bowl and simply placing lizard litter (…found at Tractor Supply) into a ziplock bag and then wrapping the bag with coordinating fabric. Then placing it into the bowl.
Lizard Litter is used by Cross Stitchers….my Mom had some in her stash. ….Yes Lizard Litter is a thing.

Skirting seemed to be a good option for the bottom of the little hutch (see more ‘skirting’ thru the Studio tour here) and at first I thought a pretty gingham, denim or plaid would look great ~ but remembering that I had a few vintage cloth calendars in my fabric stash (from Tracy) and just knew it would be perfect to use as a skirt. …and full of charm it was!

Did you see our vintage cloth calendars used as Christmas stockings? (read here). …just wait until our 2026 Open House until you see our next idea with the calendars!

….Isn’t the skirting just darling and full of charm!
It was so much fun to create this new Sewing Corner ~ playing with vintage finds, fabrics, sewing tools and the like.

I just placed a fabric order thru SpoonFlower and can’t wait to create bread bags, cookie wraps, and even ‘baby bundt cake’ carriers in my new Sewing Corner.
Thank you for visiting today.
Creatively Yours, Amy
