Creating the Halloween Hat
This is probably the most requested Mixed Media project I created…..and with a few simple steps and supplies you can create one (or two) of your own, just in time for Halloween!

Although I am not a believer in witches or witchcraft….I have been seen flying around Hope NJ in 1975.
and have visited Salem MA several times in the past years. I am amazed at the story of the Witchcraft Hysteria…..all over town gossip and here-say. If you haven’t had chance to visit ~ there are several movies and books written.
Anyway….
Join me to create The Halloween Hat (Supplies are bolded)
Paint a 6″ Paper Mache Witch Hat (found at Hobby Lobby) ~ DecoArt Chalkboard Black, don’t forget the underneath side. Then drybrush Graphite, then less of Neutral Grey to give it a worn Chalkboard look…..be still my heart.
With a favorite piece of scrapbooking paper ~ use the template provided here ⇒ halloween hat, using the outside edge to trace and transfer then cut. Add Decoart Decoupage Matte to the hat and wrap the cut paper around and secure the seams.
Using Black Card Stock (drybrushed to distress as hat was), cut into 1/2″ wide strip along long edge of paper and transfer words from template provided to the end of strip, then fill in ‘words’ with PrismaColor White Pencil. When finished fold strip around top of hat and secure with hot glue. Cut ends like a banner if desired.
Transfer words from template provided to hat brim, finish with PrismaColor White Pencil.
Finish by attaching embellishments such as raffia and baker’s twine (what else, lol!).
Add a sculpted mouse for extra cute-ness.….click below for instructions as shown in a previous post.
Now grab a pumpkin from your favorite pumpkin farm and top it with your new Halloween Hat!
