Would you believe this is my first time making fresh homemade Lemonade? We’ve made pizza dough in the bread machine and sweet smelling laundry detergent this year as a few ‘firsts’, so why not add Fresh Lemonade to all the homemade goodness!
Gather the supplies, make the simple syrup, then grate and squeeze the lemons!
Sweet Makin’ Lemonade Recipe
Ingredients
- 8 cups of water, divided
- 1 cup of sugar
- zest of 2 lemons
- 1 1/2 cups of lemon juice (about 8 lemons)
Directions
- Zest 2 lemons, set aside.
- Pour 3 cups of water and 1 cup of sugar into a saucepan and boil for 5 minutes. Remove pan from heat and add lemon zest into sugar water. Cool to room temperature…..if you are impatient, place in refrigerator to chill faster!
- Squeeze 8 lemons to measure 1 and 1/2 cups of juice.
- in a large pitcher add lemon juice to remaining 5 cups of water. Then pour cooled Sugar Water thru strainer (to catch the zest) into pitcher.
- Stir and Enjoy!
