Would you believe this is my first time making fresh homemade Lemonade? We’ve made pizza dough in the bread machine and sweet smelling laundry detergent this year as a few ‘firsts’, so why not add Fresh Lemonade to all the homemade goodness!

Gather the supplies, make the simple syrup, then grate and squeeze the lemons!

Sweet Makin’ Lemonade Recipe

Ingredients

  • 8 cups of water, divided
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • zest of 2 lemons
  • 1 1/2 cups of lemon juice (about 8 lemons)

Directions

  1. Zest 2 lemons, set aside.
  2. Pour 3 cups of water and 1 cup of sugar into a saucepan and boil for 5 minutes. Remove pan from heat and add lemon zest into sugar water. Cool to room temperature…..if you are impatient, place in refrigerator to chill faster!
  3. Squeeze 8 lemons to measure 1 and 1/2 cups of juice.
  4. in a large pitcher add lemon juice to remaining 5 cups of water. Then pour cooled Sugar Water thru strainer (to catch the zest) into pitcher.
  5. Stir and Enjoy!

Would you like to know what to do with the leftover peelings and zest?

Make a Summer Simmer! Add a fresh clean scent to your home with this Summer Simmer, much like the Christmas Simmer we made over the Holidays. If you missed it click (here).

Place a saucepan on the stove with a few cups of water. Add slices of lemon (and discarded pieces), slices of oranges or apples if you have them on hand, and don’t forget the leftover lemon zest and a few sprigs of fresh mint from the garden. Let it simmer.

Your Home will smell Fresh and Clean!

And as a special treat for you, I thought it would be fun to make ‘Lemonade Glass’ coaster/covers! These Scalloped Round Ornaments from Sheila Landry fit perfectly over a glass as a cover or as a coaster…..a fun way to enjoy a glass of lemonade with no pesky bugs flying in to share your beverage! Simply add the cover to the top of your glass in between sips, the bevel cut fits right inside!

You can find the bevel cut ornaments (here). I used the two hole version to make an easy wrap around for a glass as a gift of sweet goodness!

Here is the special treat fun part…..The pattern is created just for you for keeps.
