Classic Amy Joanne

All Things Art & Home

It’s always a feel good moment when you receive a compliment on your homemade recipes ~ shared by anyone, but specifically when ‘your people‘ give you a compliment….ya pay attention (…and try not to gasp, lol).

One of my Jr High School Teachers who happens to be my Neighbor, my Husband’s Sister ~ my Sister-in-law, and my Mom…..some of ‘my people’.

It’s just a given….when they are willing to pay a compliment ~ a Teacher, a Sister-in-law and your Mom ~ welp, it gives you a smile and you’ve earned it.

~*~

My Sister-in-Law especially loves my ‘Cut-Out’ Cookies (recipe found here) ~ and will be as ‘sweet-as-pie‘ when she craves ’em. You know it takes alot for a Sister-in-Law to show you a little sweetness, lol.

Am I right Cathy?

We live in a quaint neighborhood ~ a street filled with all brick cape-cod homes, each with a little different charm and each with wonderful folks ~ ‘lean-over-the -fence and share your lives kinda folks’. And right next door is one of my Jr High School Teachers.

….Teachers, you know them, they just don’t dole-out compliments, you gotta earn ’em.

So when she came over to say ‘Hello’ and to hand me the bowl back that previously held my famous ‘Brownie Recipe’ (found here) she said “you should make them and sell them” ~ I knew then they were good, my teacher said so.

And that brings me to my Mom, my best friend and ‘family story fact-checker on this Blog’ (and everthing in between) ~ Mom was our guest during one of our ‘Friday Nite Get-Togethers‘ ~ and even though I wasn’t really out to impress her with my dazzling cooking skills ~ she left with leftovers for the next evenings meal …upon request I might add, and a request for the recipe to share with her friends.

It Made Me Smile.

My Mom, she has been thru my early days of scorching tuna fish and adding a cup of salt instead of sugar to her ‘Peanut Butter Cookie’ Recipe~ she knows the beginning to all my Cooking Stories. Thanks Mom.

We enjoyed this Crock-Pot Meal, recipe below. I’m sure your family will love it just the same, especially on a cool night in Autumn.
