Some days I just enjoy making crafts, for no reason but to lose myself in my Studio and dig deep into the closet of goodies, how about you?
I love Pinterest for this reason and have a ‘board’ saved dedicated to Crafting (here is my board). Sooooo many crafts to try. Do you save on Pinterest?
This fun scrappy fabric flower showed up thru my Facebook feed.
….and it was the jumping off point for these cute handmade flowers.
I wanted to make something similar to the scrappy flower but just a wee-bit smaller and using what I already had in my well stocked Studio.
While digging ~ I found metal rings I purchased for curtains, some old scrappy coordinating fabrics, a few pennies from the Hubby’s coin-jar, and some fiber fill.
Here is a ‘Penny for your Thoughts-Forget me Knot’ Flower Maker’s Guide
Penny for Your Thoughts Forget Me Knot Flowers
Instructions
- Cut fabric into 2 inch squares, then fold each piece of fabric as shown in the above photos ~ corner to corner and glue into place (I used hot glue), then fold the folded fabric over a '1 1/2' inch metal ring as shown and again glue into place. Continue making fabric petals and adding over the metal ring, overlapping the previous petal by just a bit. Add as many layers of petals as you desire.
- Then place a bit of fiber fill onto the center of a fabric square and then place a penny ontop of the fiber fill. Then fold the fabric corners around the backside of the penny and glue into place. Then push the 'penny button' thru the center of the flower and glue into place.
- I then added denim fabric scrap leaves with glue to the backside and placed a 'circle' cut from denim scraps over the entire backside….just to clean it up.
- Use what you have! Any 'ring' will do and any size. Use one color fabric or multiple. Just simply enjoy crafting from your stash!
