Gather the Ingredients

Christmas Simmer

  • pears
  • apples
  • oranges
  • fresh cranberries
  • whole allspice
  • whole cloves

  • star anise
  • fresh pine sprigs
  • bay leaves
  • and even candy cane peppermint

  1. Add a little of each ingredient into any creative packaging such as brown paper packages, cello wraps, a red stocking, a basket or my personal favorite a cotton string bag, (purchase here). Add an extra piece of fruit or two for a sweet treat to eat too! Be sure to wrap securely inside the packaging to keep the ingredients fresh. Deliver to family, friends, neighbors and strangers alike ~ place on their doorknob for a sweet smelling Christmas Simmer surprise! Don’t forget to print the instruction tag (shown below) onto cardstock, then cut-out, punch a hole in the top and tie onto each pretty package…..with baker’s twine of course.

Then create a handmade ornament in Classic Chalk Art Style (shown below) ~ to add to each Christmas Simmer doorknob gift, making it extra special!

Why not decopauge the ‘Christmas Simmer’ instruction tag to the backside of the ornament…. adding an extra fun little touch!

Lifting each other up this Christmas Season is so important and thinking of those folks who are alone, or grieving, or afraid or sad or are in need of a friend.

As we learned in Sunday School ~ when we lift each other up and share kindness we ourselves are lifted.

“Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.” ~ Hebrews 13:2

“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” ~ Galatians 6:9

Thank you so much Amy Joanne for showing this beautiful gift. In your packaging do you include like the whole piece of fruit or do you slice and dry and then include in the simmer blend. The gift and the sentiment perfect for the season so thank you very much..

    1. Hi Penny! Thank you for your kind reply…I put whole fruit in the package and then put the instruction tag on the gift which advises then to cut the fruit before simmering….no need to dry any fruit I just pictured it that way for pretty! …enjoy!

Thank you for sharing Amy! Wonder what size bag you use for the simmer? Such a simple, thoughtful gift for a neighbor or friend.

    1. Thank you! I used both a size 4 or a size 5 of the canvas bags ~ one is 6″ long and the other 10″ long….they really make up nicely!
